Introduction
There are several internet technoligies that are used on the internet.Some of these are ISP, Email, newsgroup, HTTP, HTML, etc. Further you can connect to the internet using various technologies.
To access the web pages you need to use a browser which can be configured with several settings.
Additinoally, you should be able to protect your computer from intruders using Firewall.
ISP
ISP or Internet Service Provider is an organization that provides access to the Internet for a monthly fee.
the Internet Service Provider gives a software package, username and password and access phone number the ISPs are also called Internet Access Providers (IAPs)
An e-mail program is used to send and receive mails on th internet.Some of the popular email programs
(or email clinets) are Microsoft's Outlook Express and Netscape's Messenger.these programs can be
configured on the client computer by providing the e-mail address and pasword of the account provided by the ISP. Additionally, you need to configure the POP3 (postOffice Protocol version 3) or IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)
HTML
HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language It is used to create web pages on the internet AN HTML file is a text file that has an extension htm or html. the HTML file can be opened in any text editer program such
as Notepad, editpad etc The HTML documents consists of elements defined using HTML tags which tell the
web browser how to disply the web pages.
HTTP
HTTP (Hypertext Transfer protocol) is the protocol that used on the World Wide Web since 1990. It defines
how messages are formatted and transmitted, and what actions web servers and browsers should take in response to various commands. For example you enter a URL 9 uniform Resorurce LOcater INthe browser,
it sends an HTTP commands. to the web server directing it to tetch and transmit the reuested web page
